She has arrived....Presley Jane Lynn was born June 29th 2010 at 6:16 am. She was 7 lbs 9 oz and 21 inches long. She was perfect!
I went into labor around 1:00 in the morning. I woke up feeling like I was cramping..didn't really think much of it, so I just tried to go back to sleep. Well that was happening because as I was trying to go to sleep, the cramping was getting worse and worse. Guess those were the contractions everyone talked about. And yes it did get to the point where I had to stop and try to breath when I would have one. I called my friend Sabrina to come over and stay with Kali while I went ahead and headed to the hospital. Kelly was gone on military training so he was gone during the week and home on weekends. When Sabrina got here I was getting my stuff together while having contractions what seemed to be every minute! I was all ready and determined to drive myself and finally when I was buckled over the counter in the kitchen in pain we thought it would be better if Sabrina drove me, lol. Woke Kali up and off we were to have a baby. Got to the hospital around 2 am, checked in, waiting on Kelly to get here. Best way to sum up labor prior to an epidural is DEATH! It was horrible. I kept asking for my epidural and the nurse kept telling me that they had to do lab work first and ask me (what seemed like) a million questions about any family medical issues. After everything was all filled out and blood was drawn, I asked again for the epidural and now we were waiting on the Dr....he was about 45 mins away...ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Once the epidural was in and flowing, I was good to go. The nurse said it was time to start pushing and I asked her if we could wait a few mins so I could enjoy this wonderful drug, lol! Started pushing around 4 and she was here at 6:16! The nurses and Dr knew that we didn't know the sex of the baby so when she was born they had Kelly tell me what we had...I loved that! Although with everything going on once she was out and the excitement, Kelly forgot to tell me at first. I had to finally ask and he said, "oh yeah, Presley is here!"
The Dr was concerned about her breathing so they transferred her to another hospital (Healthplex) to be admitted to the NICU. Talk about freaking out a new mommy. Long story short...She had a little bit of pneumonia in one of her lungs on an x-ray so they kept her in the NICU for a week to receive iv antibiotics.
Her oxygen levels were not where the doctors wanted them so she had to wear this little oxygen bubble over her head until she could maintain her oxygen on her own.
No more "hood." Now we just have a feeding tube.
She kept scratching her face up so the nurses put a pair of socks over her hands...
She looks like she is ready to knock someone out
Once she received her week of IV antibiotics, they re-did x-rays and the spot they were concerned about on her lungs was gone...we FINALLY got to take our baby girl home
All ready to go
I wanted to wake her up and say, "are you sure you are ready for this?"
